Special Care Nursery
Welcome to our Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU). We care for babies born at a gestational age of 32 weeks and greater.
Through an affiliation with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Washington Health operates a nine-bed intermediate intensive care nursery "satellite” providing ongoing care for infants with special needs.
UCSF neonatal and pediatric specialists are now at Washington Health, providing the finest neonatal and specialty care available. Our multidisciplinary team works together to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for your baby.
Parents who wish to stay in the hospital to continue breastfeeding and bonding with their baby may be provided room and board, based on space availability.
Mothers will receive meal vouchers during their stay.
As a Baby-Friendly designated hospital, we support all feeding choices and encourage breastfeeding.
Lactation support and breast pumps are available for mothers who need them.
Human Donor Milk is provided as needed to meet your baby’s nutritional needs.
Before discharge, we offer rooming-in to help parents gain confidence and comfort caring for their baby at home.
