Norovirus & Dehydration
Norovirus can lead to dehydration, which can be very dangerous. Signs of dehydration include infrequent urination, a dry mouth, a dry throat, and a feeling of dizziness or lightheadedness when you stand up. If you are concerned that your child may be dehydrated, look for symptoms such as irritability / fussiness, abnormal levels of exhaustion, difficulty waking, and crying without tears.
It is very important to prevent dehydration with norovirus by drinking plenty of water and other beverages. You may need to supplement with oral rehydration fluids, which can be purchased over the counter. In cases of severe dehydration, or if you are concerned about symptoms related to norovirus, call your doctor of internal medicine in Fremont at Washington Health Medical Group. We can help you, answer your questions, and provide the support and care you need.
