Becker’s Honors Kimberly Hartz, CEO of Washington Health

FREMONT, Calif., June 19, 2025 -- Washington Health is proud to announce that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms. Kimberly Hartz, has been named to the 2025 “Women Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know” list by Becker’s Hospital Review.

This national recognition honors women who are shaping the future of health care by driving growth, cultivating positive workplace cultures, expanding access to care, and boosting satisfaction for both providers and patients. Ms. Hartz’s inclusion reflects her leadership in advancing access to essential services, delivering top-tier quality, and an unwavering commitment to equity.

Ms. Hartz was appointed CEO just prior to a historic pandemic, working with the providers and staff to deliver health guidance and frequent updates to keep the community safe. Like most health care systems, the impact of COVID-19 remained following the end of emergency orders, and Ms. Hartz guided the organization through a “road to recovery” initiative. These strategic actions moved the health system forward and into growth and innovation. Major achievements include the opening of the level II trauma center in July 2024, and the soon-to-be completed expansion of the UCSF-Washington Cancer Center.

Becker’s list highlights outstanding women in health care leadership nationwide. For more information, see Women hospital and health system presidents and CEOs to know.

About Washington Health

Washington Health is an independent, community-based health system governed by the publically elected Washington Township Health Care District Board. Opened in 1958, Washington Health has grown to include a 415-bed acute care hospital; the Bell Neuroscience Institute of Silicon Valley; the Institute for Joint Restoration and Research; Washington Outpatient Surgery Center; Washington Outpatient Rehabilitation Center; Washington Health Medical Group; and Washington West which houses the UCSF-Washington Cancer Center, Washington Women’s Center, Outpatient Imaging Center, and additional outpatient hospital services and administrative facilities. The health system continues to receive top-tier awards and distinctions for many programs and services, while advancing the level of medical care and treatment in Southern Alameda County. Unlike a municipal or county hospital, Washington Health’s operating expenses, research, community programs, and employee salaries are funded by revenues generated through providing patient care and other health care services.
