Chet Morrison, MD

Dr. Chet Morrison is the Trauma Medical Director at Washington Health in Fremont. He led the development and launch of the Level II Trauma Center, which opened on July 1, 2024, to serve patients throughout southern Alameda County.

Dr. Morrison earned dual bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology from Cornell University and his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship and general surgery residency at Fitzsimons and William Beaumont Army Medical Centers, followed by a fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care at the University of Maryland and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

Before joining Washington Health, Dr. Morrison served as Trauma Medical Director and Department Chair at St. Mary’s/Ascension Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. Previously, he served as an attending trauma surgeon and Director of the Neurotrauma Intensive Care Unit at Lancaster General Hospital and as an Assistant Professor and Director of Surgical Critical Care at Michigan State University.

Dr. Morrison also held leadership roles in U.S. Army medical units and served in Iraq and Korea. His military service included receiving the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal.

Dr. Morrison is also dedicated to medical education and training. He served as an Associate Professor of Surgery at Central Michigan University School of Medicine and has held teaching and leadership positions at medical schools and hospitals. He has also served on editorial boards and medical committees focused on trauma care, quality improvement, critical care, and surgical education.
