Michael J. Wallace

Mike Wallace, a Fremont resident for more than 50 years, has served on the Washington Township Health Care District Board of Directors since 1990. Born and raised in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he attended Ohio State University and entered the Army after graduating, serving in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He later obtained a masters of business administration from Santa Clara University.

The chairman of Fremont Bank, Wallace brings decades of financial expertise and governance to the health system. Under his leadership, Washington Health has earned Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award, honoring the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide for superior performance in preventing medical events and assuring safety. During this time, the health system also expanded access to world-class care through its partnership with UCSF Health, opened a Level II Trauma Center, and elevated many of its programs, including cancer and orthopedic care. Wallace has also helped oversee major milestones in Washington Health’s Master Plan.

He has continued his service to community and currently sits on the boards of the Fremont Bank Foundation and the BETA Healthcare Group. He is also a past chairman of the Fremont Commercial Industrial Development Commission.
