Japanese Nurse Educators to Visit Washington Health's Nurse Experts To Learn New Ways to Train Future Nurses

Who: Educator from The Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing will visit Washington Health’s nurse training facilities, including the patient simulation lab to learn more about the leading edge education provided to the next generation of nurses by Washington Health’s highly trained staff at its teaching facilities. Washington Health’s administrators and nurse educators are hosting the visitors.

While there are many hospitals in the Bay Area, Washington Health was singled out by the Japanese nurse educators for many reasons, including its status as a Magnet Hospital and its ranking as the fourth best Hospital in the Bay Area according to US News and World Report. In September 2011, Washington Health earned Magnet® status recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the highest level of recognition that a hospital can achieve for nursing excellence. Only 6.7 percent of hospitals in the United States have earned this status and Washington Health is one of six hospitals in the Bay Area to receive this designation. What: There will be an opportunity to meet and observe the Japanese delegation as they interact and tour Washington Health’s Richard M. Warren Simulation Lab. The simulation lab includes patient rooms with patient simulators, which can be programed to show signs and symptoms of nearly any condition or ailment based on instructions from a controller.
